KINGS OF MAURETANIA. Juba II, 25 BC-AD 24. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 2.81 g, 6 h), Caesarea Mauretaniae, RY 42 = 17/8 AD. REX•IVBA Head of Juba II to right, wearing lion skin headdress and with club over his left shoulder. Rev. R XXXXII Capricorn to right, bearing cornucopiae on its back and holding globe between front hooves. MAA 171. Mazard 212. Beautifully toned and very well centered. Extremely fine.

From a German collection, formed before 2005.

The reverse of this issue was copied from denarii of Augustus, Juba's patron, who appointed him to King of Mauretania in 25 BC.
